Chapter 111: Evans Story (Part 2)

  Chapter 111: Evan's Story (2)

On one side of the testing grounds, a girl wearing a white priestess robe slowly walked over with a tray in her hand. Her light reddish-brown long hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, soft and full of luster. Her large eyes shone brightly like stars in the sky, and below her small nose was a pair of inviting, naturally red lips that were as vibrant as ripe cherries. Her pale and slender arms were like white jade, and the curves of her waistline occasionally appeared under the loose-fitting robe, but her high chest seemed completely out of proportion with her slender figure, drawing Evan's gaze to it.

The girl came before Evan with a tray, and in a sweet voice like the song of an oriole, laughed as she said to Evan: "Please put one hand on this pearl."

Evan looked at the girl named Nia and murmured, "Beautiful girl, please tell me, are you an angel sent by the Lord of Light to save my fallen soul?"

The girl heard Evan's words and burst out laughing, saying: "You're really interesting, hurry up and put your hand on the pearl."

Evan heard the girl's voice and immediately came out of his reverie, after all, years of assassin training had not made him lose himself for a long time. However, he still playfully blinked his eyes and smiled, saying: "Beautiful pastor, if I fail my test, you must remember to make an appointment with me to accompany me, comfort this wounded heart, save the fallen soul of this person abandoned by God, are you willing?"

Niyah smiled even sweeter, and said softly: "Hurry up, someone is waiting for you. If you pass the test, I'm willing to be your guide and take you on a tour of various places in the Holy City. But if you don't pass the test, it's possible that we won't meet again."

When Evan heard Niya's words, he became somewhat nervous about the test in front of him. He even silently prayed in his heart: "Lord, since you have brought this beautiful girl before me, please help me keep her by my side. If you fulfill my wish, I will drive out evil for you and fight for you all my life." Apparently, the previous words to the Red Robed Archbishop were soon verified on Evan's body by the Lord of Light.

Evan stretched out his left hand towards the white bead in the center of the plate, and at the moment when he was about to touch the bead, Evan even closed his eyes due to tension.

A dazzling white light flashed by, and Evan heard Nia's voice ring out: "Your Eminence, the test subject has achieved a 100% compatibility with the divine, is a devout believer and an excellent candidate for the clergy."

Evan's eyes widened in surprise as he stared at his hands, hardly able to believe that a double-handed assassin who had shed blood and had no reverence for the gods could achieve 100% synchronization with divinity. But soon he put down his astonishment and smiled slyly at Nia, saying: "Beautiful priestess, you must remember your promise." Nia smiled and gave Evan a white eye, whispering: "Don't be in a hurry, there's still one more hurdle to overcome, maybe you'll be chosen as a candidate for the Holy Knights, and you won't see me either."

"Evan, come here." A red-robed archbishop's voice rang out unpleasantly. Evan hastily winked at Nia and walked over.

"Evan, based on the results of your test, combined with your excellent physical condition, we are preparing to make you a candidate for the Sacred Knights of the Vatican. Are you willing?" asked the old cardinal.

"I must respectfully disagree, Your Eminence," Evan said with a shake of his head. "I actually abhor bloodshed, and even when facing enemies, I hope to use the love in my heart to reform them. After all, brute force cannot eradicate evil at its root; only love can be the panacea that reforms enemies and drives out evil. Therefore, I aspire to become a great and holy priest, using the Lord's divine power to reform enemies and drive out evil with radiant magic."

Evan's words were convincing, and all the red-robed bishops present nodded frequently. After all, they were all pastors by origin, and in their hearts, they still had some reservations about the existence of Holy Knights. Although both professions served the Lord, there was a bit of disdain between them. Now Evan's words were just what they wanted to hear.

Several cardinals conferred briefly with each other and immediately nodded in agreement to Evan's request.

The aged cardinal in red robes said to Evan with a benevolent expression: "So, Evan, according to your will, we will assign you as an object of cultivation for the pastor. Go and wait over there."

Evan followed the bishop's finger and looked over, it was exactly where Nia was standing. Evan immediately smiled and bowed to several bishops, walked to Nia's side and stood still.

Evan said to Nia on the side, "Hey Nia, now you have to keep your promise, right?"

Niya whispered: "I didn't expect, you're really a slick talker, even Bishop Tony and the others were deceived by you. Alright, I agree with you."

Soon, the test ended, and Ciel, who came with Evan, was not selected, but only stayed as a general miscellaneous role. Ciel, somewhat disappointed, came to bid farewell to her brother, and then walked out of the church gate with other eliminated personnel.

Evan then followed Nia to a house specially prepared for the pastors, where everyone had their own small room. The furnishings were simple: a place of prayer, a bed, a table and chair, plus a closet for clothes, nothing else.

Evan was already very satisfied, he cleaned up his things and began to ponder how to see Nia again. Although he knew that since he had become a pastor's apprentice, he would definitely see Nia frequently, but in his heart, he still hoped to see her as soon as possible. This was the first time Evan had ever longed so much to see someone since he was little.

At this moment, as if the master of light had heard Evan's heart, a knock on the door suddenly sounded, and Nia's voice also rang out from outside: "Evan, are you there?"

Evan immediately stood up, opened the door, and Nia was standing at the doorway with a smile.

"Nia, come in." Evan couldn't help but feel a little flustered, and he secretly ridiculed himself. When facing powerful enemies, his hands probably hadn't even trembled once before, so what was wrong with him today?

Niyah smiled and shook her head, saying: "Let's go, I'll take you to the city for a stroll. I don't want people to say that I broke my promise."

Ivan smiled and made a "please" gesture towards Nia, saying: "Then, beautiful lady, please lead the way."
