Chapter 115: Evan (6)
Evan was hiding under a huge rock by the stream, just above which was a path that Kendrin often took. According to the information he had obtained from Nia, Kendrin would secretly go to find Saint Dolly, who was hiding in the woods behind, every two days. Afterwards, Evan had come here several times according to Nia's description, and indeed this place was desolate and uninhabited, making it a good place for an ambush. Evan observed carefully and found that Kendrin did often pass by here, and seemed to have some sort of regularity, roughly once every two days.
Evan estimated that Kendra would pass by here today. Evan's heart was actually conflicted at this moment. The intelligence came from Nia, and after the truth was revealed, he might not be able to see Nia again, let alone face her. But he couldn't afford to think about that now. He had to complete his mission and couldn't let his sister take risks for him. He also knew what would happen if he didn't carry out the task - the organization wouldn't tolerate anyone who disobeyed orders.
Evan silently muttered in his heart: "Nina, will you forgive me? I'm sincere to you..."
The footsteps came from above, Evan slightly stuck his head out and saw Kendellin.
The dagger in Evan's hand emitted a cold light, and the teacher's words echoed in his ear: "Cold blood, decisiveness is the only way to survive, any hesitation will bury one's own life."
A dark figure rose from behind Kendrin, and before Kendrin could react, a dagger had deeply pierced his back, the tip protruding slightly from his chest, an exact assassination, one knife accurately inserted into the heart.
Kendall's body went limp and fell to the ground, Evan let go of Kendall's body indifferently, took two steps back, watching as Kendall struggled on the ground, waiting for him to die before approaching to confirm his death.
Suddenly, a holy light flashed in Kendrin's hand, and a "Light Bind" was released from Kendrin's hand that should have died immediately. A thick light rope tied Evan into a tight knot.
Kendall struggled to cover the wound and crawled up from the ground, although the severe pain of the wound distorted his face, but there was a victorious smile at the corner of his mouth.
"Haha, didn't expect that, did you? I'm a person born with my heart on the right side, you miscalculated. Now, while I'm recovering from my injuries, tell me, who are you and who sent you to kill me?" Kenderlin applied a holy healing technique to himself, his wounds healing at a visible rate.
Evan remained apathetic, gazing at Kendrin. His toes moved slightly on the ground, and a thin thread was pulled by Evan, which was a mechanism set up in advance by Evan. Four soft sounds came from four directions, and four crossbow arrows shot out, piercing Kendrin who was completely defenseless. One of the arrows even accurately pierced Kendrin's throat, causing him to fall to the ground like a sack, with fresh blood spreading out on the ground.
The magic wore off with the death of the caster, and Evan walked forward to turn Kendrin over. Kendrin's eyes were wide open, his dull eyes still showing fear and disbelief.
"You are too confident in your magic. I, on behalf of the Lord of Holy Light, hereby sentence you to death for your betrayal, and after death, you will not be able to return to the Lord's side." Evan said softly.
Aidan looked up at the sky and muttered, "Lord, I've helped you a great deal, don't blame me. How did your Vatican allow an old demon to take control? It seems that even you have things that are beyond your control..."
A flash of lightning streaked across the sky, a thunderclap rolled in from the horizon...
"You get angry just by saying two words, it's really too much." Evan muttered to himself, dragging Kendellin's body to a giant stone and hiding it. It would take the others at least until tomorrow to find out that Kendellin was missing and find him, so he should still have one night to retrieve the "Demon Suppressing Pearl".
After doing all this, Evan looked up at the sky again. The dark clouds were rolling in and a heavy rain was approaching. In fact, the weather helped him greatly. The thunderstorm could cover his actions, and the heavy rain would also erase all traces here. It's really heaven helping him out. Maybe it's the Lord of Light rewarding his behavior, who knows?
Evan took advantage of the night to sneak into the altar, which was not a difficult task for him. The few guards were easily knocked unconscious by him. Evan did not kill them, he didn't know why, but he didn't want to kill innocent people here.
Evan looked at the "Demon Suppressing Bead" floating in the center of the altar, shining with a purple glow. Was it really that easy? Evan couldn't help but hesitate in his heart. Could it be some kind of trap? Never mind, try it and see.
Evan stretched out his hand towards that purple glow...
"Ayven, you really want it? Why..." a voice sounded behind Ayven.
Evan's hand stiffened there, that was Nia's voice.
Niya passed by Evan's side, holding the "Magic Pearl" in her hand, looking at Evan: "Guarding it is one of my responsibilities, my mission is not to let it fall into anyone's hands. If it is stolen, I will be locked up in the temple prison. Evan, if you came close to me for this, take it away, you took not only the pearl but also my heart."
Niya brought the "Demon Pearl" in front of Evan, her face already filled with tears.
Evan hesitated for a moment, then reached out and took the "Demon Suppressing Pearl". In that instant, Nia's eyes lost all their luster.
But next, Evan made a move that he himself couldn't understand. He picked up a heavy metal statue from the ground and smashed it towards the pearl, "The Forbidden Pearl" instantly shattered into several pieces, losing its luster. Evan put the fragments back on the altar, then said to Nia: "I'm leaving, remember, I didn't get close to you because of the mission, I really love you. Second, you haven't lost the pearl, it's just been destroyed, and it hasn't fallen into anyone's hands. If anyone blames you for this, I'll come back to save you."
Niya cried and laughed as she said to Evan: "What is this?"
Evan stepped forward wanting to hug Niya, but Niya took a step back and looked at him.
Evan said: "Come with me, I'll marry you."
Niyah shook her head and said: "No, I belong here, I can't go anywhere else."
Outside, the sound of people was already faintly audible. Evan suddenly rushed towards Nia, his hand flashing out like lightning to strike her neck and knock her unconscious. Nia went limp in Evan's arms as the voices drew closer, clearly he could no longer escape with the unconscious Nia.
Evan hesitated for a moment, kissed Nia's face and said: "Dear, wait for me to come back and pick you up, I won't let you leave me."
Having said that, Evan plunged from the window into the vast night...
