This is the 3rd day that we are walking toward the nation of monsters. We are following the map and the written instructions given by Ayame, we are halfway through, and we reached a turning point for the journey, a dark forest that has thick clouds over it, enveloping it in mist.
“That seems unnatural. What is that?”- The carpenter stopped in his tracks
!It’s a misty forest. The mist is produced by a mist dragon that lives in the forest. You can go through without an issue, mist dragons aren’t aggressive unless provoked!
“Well, we have nothing to worry about. Unless we do something to provoke the thing that makes the mist”- Hana and I took the first steps into the misty forest, we look all around us to see nothing but mist, we couldn’t see 2 meters ahead of us.
!I will be guided through the mist. I analyzed the pce already. You need to go on this path straight ahead, the forest is just 5km long!
“Well, thanks. If we deviate off course tell us”
The 3 of us began to walk through the forest, we huddled together against one another. My shadow tendrils are out on the ground, searching the area for any traps or monsters that might be in the area, even if there is mist and a dragon here I still don’t feel safe. Especially if anything that we do might wake up the dragon and we will be in a world of trouble if it wakes up.
“Can you at least tell me what is causing the mist? Why are we so cautious and walking so slow?”- The carpenter whispered to Hana.
“Well, how should I start? The whole forest is covered in the midst of a mist dragon. We are currently on its territory and we must be careful not to upset it. It will let us pass if we do nothing wrong”- As I said that a small stone came flying and hit my head hard. It hurts so much, it is almost like the rock was infused with something.
“You, stop there! You are trespassing on the nd of the mist Dragonoid!”- Out of the mist in front of us a little girl is emerging, well she is little by height.
“We mean no harm, we are just passing through. We are going to the Nation of Monsters. Have you heard of it?”- If she heard of it, then we might be able to use that to our advantage.
“Yes, actually, it lies a few km behind this mist forest. If you can prove you are harmless I will release the mist and let you pass”- The little girl stood before us with her arm crossed.
“Well, do you know the person named Ayame, she had sent us? Here is one of the documents, you may recognize it”- I gave her one of the documents in Ayame’s handwriting. She gave us a lot of mementos to show to monsters in order for them to consider us friends in some way. Ayame managed to make friends with so many monsters. To think the guild had a bounty on her head and wanted her dead.
“This looks like her writing. So, she really sent the 2 of you and that guy here. Will you build us houses?”- She looked at me with sparkly puppy eyes.
“Yes, sure we will. It will just take a while for us to get them done but we promise that we will make a house for everyone there”- I leaned down and slowly extended my hand toward her.
“Well, I guess it’s nice to meet you.”- She shook my hand. I forgot to mention but we deactivated Lucifer before coming here.
“Don’t you have a name?”- I asked her while shaking her tiny hand.
“No, Ayame never gave one, said it’s dangerous for her to name monsters, but I don’t think the 2 of you will have the privilege of having names”
“We do have names. I am Hikaru Tanaka and she is Hana Tomura. We have these names long before meeting Ayame. It’s complicated, we can name you if you want to”- She looked at me and kneeled.
!Caution, I advise against naming her. In Akira’s case, he gained more power by naming. I withhold information from you because you could handle the load naming takes, plus Akira didn’t take much mana from you. But a Dragonoid needs 10 times the mana of a demon to name and it will grow even stronger, are you sure you want to do that?!
“Yes, it’s fine”- I couldn’t resist, when she kneeled my hand automatically reached for her head and patted it.
“I will do whatever it takes to get a name. You can pat me all you want”- She blushed and let me pat her head.
“Ok, your name will be Millie”
“Thank you Hikaru”- She hugged with a force capable to shatter a mountain.
“No problem”- I feel dizzy all of a sudden. What is happening? I can’t keep my eyes open. The moment Millie let go of me I colpsed to the ground.
!Entering Mana Recovery mode!
3 days ter:
I woke up 3 days ter with my head spinning. What happened?
!You used all of your mana while naming Millie and entered the Mana Recovery Mode. Your mana levels have gone below critical and needed to enter this mode immediately”- I looked around to see Hana and Millied staring at me.
“I am sorry Hikaru that I made you name me.”- She bowed down. Wait, she looks different, a little more grown up, still young but like a teenager rather than her childish form.
!When naming a monster the mana you use gets converted to exp and levels for the monster. Millie managed to evolve since she needed a small amount of exp for her next evolution stage, she is currently level 40!
“No problem Millie. If I can recover that’s all that matters in the end. We will continue our journey to the Nation of Monsters. You stay here and guard the forest ok?”- I managed to get up, pat her head.
We got going on the road again. We can’t lose or waste time here.
