Chapter 37- A Small Break

School had a holiday for one day, due to the police investigating the crime scene, I had nothing better to do

School was closed and there was a day off

Lucy had introduced to me to so many different cafés to the point it had became an obsession for me to go to any new café

Especially those that served cold desserts

This one was the newest one in the city, it was a pretty average sized square building, there wasn’t too many people but every table was filled with them, I had to get a reservation to even get in here

The tables were nicely decorated with flowers and other decorative items adorning the chairs and tables

I had ordered whatever was popular, the only view I had in this completely white building was the competition they held outside

The food was amazing, the ice cream was nice and creamy, I just wished that Lucy would be here with me to enjoy this moment

She would’ve loved this but she had something else to do

There was a flock of people

  It looked kinda fun

“Maybe I should go ahead and join”.

The smile on the children’s faces, there were so happy, I wish I could be just like them, unaware of everything and everyone

I walked outside the café, there was a small bell that rung as I stepped outside

It was a painting competition, a race based on a special theme

Most of the canvases were just splashed with paint, I could not make out what they were trying to create but they seemed to be having fun

It’s good that they’re unaware of the war

“Big Brother, is this not amazing”?

He pulled my shirt and made emergency look at his canvas, it was messy, real messy but he had this bright smile on his face

  “What’s your name, young man”?

  “It’s Nagumo”.

I never realized his name was that common, it reminds me about him, I just wish that everything turned back to how it was

  I saw red

I had seen a dead body in the corner of my eyes, it was a human eating another, but I clearly see his horns protruding out of his head

It was a demon masquerading as a human

I won’t let him near any of these children

Was this a feeling of justice? It was something I never once had, I never felt like ever helping people, it was a waste of time, it never aided me.

I just don’t want any more death in this world

No more, everyone should have a grand death, not death by getting killed or being alone

The man with horns ran towards me, he was on all fours, his mouth filled with blood and his eyes full of gluttony, a want to kill us all

  “The children shouldn’t see this”.

Time had stopped completely, I grabbed his shirt and dragged him into a discrete place, an dark alleyway where he will never be found

He was found 3 days later, the demon’s body mangled and bleeding
