Chapter Fifty-One: Fishing Complete
If it were by the sea, Cordelia wouldn't be as passive as she is now. The mermaids' long-term magic has made some of their spells exist like instincts, which can be activated once they are threatened. Although it can't cause any harm, at least it can create an opportunity for counterattack.
But this is not a beach in the sea or near the sea, and it does not meet the conditions for Kediliya to cast her spell. And because of carelessness, a huge threat sneaked up to her side, leaving Kediliya almost no chance to resist, and she was easily captured by the Minotaur.
But this can't be entirely blamed on Kedillia, after all no one would have thought that a Minotaur would possess such immense power to the point of being able to kill her five hundred subordinates. These sea monsters are still considered to be fairly strong existences, even fifty or sixty Sault people wouldn't be their match.
However, the Minotaur only spent a dozen or so minutes to slaughter all these demons. If this was a trap set by the Minotaur and that fish monster together, then Kedillia would have given up, but there was only one Minotaur. The quiet surroundings indicated that there was no ambush of fish monsters, and all the corpses here were done by him.
"Now, I'll slowly release your throat." The Minotaur said to Kedillia: "I hope you won't resist, now let's have a good talk."
"Sas... ku..." Just as he felt the Minotaur's relaxation, Kudelia's pink lips immediately began to chant, but apparently she overestimated her own casting speed. As soon as three syllables were uttered, the power in her neck was increased, causing the last syllable to be choked back.
The power that had lost its command burst forth beside Kudelia, forming a small magical maelstrom. Not only did it throw the nearby magical powers into chaos, but it also injured Kudelia as she cast the spell, some green blood flowing from her mouth and her tongue slightly wounded by the magic.
"Ah, I knew you'd resort to this. The Minotaur looked at the faint chill on his arm and the demonic creatures lurking around him, saying: "Those who are defeated by sneak attacks always have an illusion that once they gain freedom, they can counter-kill the sneaky bastards who won (The 4th greatest illusion of life - being able to counter-kill! Demacia! Rush down!)"
Cedilia glared angrily at the Minotaur's eyes, her ferocious expression making her pretty face look somewhat terrifying. It was clear that Cedilia did not concede defeat after being beaten so badly, just as the Minotaur had said, and she believed that the Minotaur had only won by relying on a sneak attack.
"Alright." The Minotaur sighed, carrying the mermaid towards the giant axe and tearing a strip of cloth from his own red fabric. He stuffed it into the mermaid's mouth as she struggled, then took out a rope and bound Kedillia's hands.
The surrounding demons could only watch as the Minotaur did so, after all, their leader was still in his hands. The undisciplined and disunited demons had not fled at the moment Kedillia was captured, which was already a remarkable thing. Although the assassin among them was a Minotaur, which accounted for a large part of this.
The Minotaur easily threw Kudelia to the ground, effortlessly pulling out the giant axe stuck in the earth. He smiled at Kudelia as she struggled to get up and said, "In that case, I'll just have to let you see it with your own eyes. And after I've taken care of these guys, I can give you a chance to duel me."
The assassins had abandoned their captured leader, and the monsters would not wait any longer. One by one, they roared towards the weak Cow-headed man, intending to be the first to kill this Cow-headed man who had insulted Lady Kedillia, so that they could gain merit with their leader. Perhaps if Lady Kedillia was rescued and became happy, she would even reward them with some of the internal organs of the person who had just been saved.
"Hmph! Foolish creatures." Watching the monsters rushing over, two jets of steam shot out from the Minotaur's nostrils, and with a face full of disdain, he grasped the giant axe in his hand and charged into the monster horde.
The next scene was one that Kedillia had never seen in her life. The constantly flying severed limbs and heads, the blood sprayed by the demons dyed the entire forest into a dark green, the demons howled and wailed. In the end, it was inevitable to disperse, those who were unlucky enough to be caught up by the Minotaurs, then turned into a pile of minced meat.
"Come to." The green, cow-headed humanoid object tossed the still-unconscious man beside Kedillia, then squatted down in front of her and shook its clean palm before her face, saying: "Now all the troublesome guys have disappeared, just like I said earlier. And now, I'll give you a chance to challenge me."
The green-painted Minotaur untied Kedri's hands and removed the gag from her mouth, then said with some embarrassment: "In order to make the performance more realistic, I took off all my clothes and only left this loincloth on. Although I also wanted to change into underwear or something, but no matter how hard I tried, it was always a bit too small."
"What on earth are you." Kedilia finally came back to her senses after being stunned for a while and said: "Are you a giant dragon transformed into a Minotaur? A Minotaur wouldn't have such immense power!"
"I wish I were a giant dragon." The Minotaur said with some resignation, "Unfortunately, I'm just a Minotaur. Although my strength is not inferior to that of a giant dragon. You've already seen my power, and it's not just bragging. Magic doesn't have much effect on me either."
"I knew it." Kedillia said with a dejected tone, hanging her head down: "The magical turbulence just now, I already knew. If you were an ordinary demon, your hand would have been an ice sculpture by then. Your resistance to magic is too high, and without my subordinates, I won't be your match. Eat me!"
The flesh of mermaids is a delicacy, not only delicious but also said to have life-extending properties. Many alchemists seeking to create the elixir of immortality used mermaid brains as their most important ingredient. This led emperors of human empires to hunt down these "treasures" of the sea, causing what was once a normal population to become scarce.
However, later on, a study by a scholar proved that the flesh of mermaids could only prolong one's lifespan for a short period and would also cause the consumer to become an idiot. The hunt that had lasted for nearly a hundred years finally came to an end. During this time, countless people died in the ocean, and countless sailors never returned.
But it was also the rise of whaling that led to significant advances in human navigation technology. In the sea, where humans were originally unable to act, many merchant ships emerged for trade, countless predecessors explored the gathering places of sea monsters, and explored navigable routes, allowing continents and some islands to be connected, opening up the era of oceanic commerce.
Carthage had indeed become a powerful nation, expanding its territory northwards and defeating Massalia three times in history, occupying much of its territory. This was also the reason for Caesar's southern campaign, with the reason he submitted to the Massalian Senate being to recover the territory that Massalia had lost 500 years ago.
"Ugh..." Just then, a man on the ground who had been unconscious finally came to, groaning due to the inexplicable pain all over his body. As he struggled to get up, he saw the Minotaur beside him and loudly cursed: "Damn you, Mo Yan! Why did you suddenly knock me out? I told you I wouldn't be bait! And... where are my pants?"
"In fact, you've already completed the bait's task." Mo Yan looked at Aruba who was touching his pants everywhere and said with a smile: "I've caught the mermaid."
"What the...?! Dammit! I said it hurts down there!" Aruba cursed: "Next time if you do this again, I'll definitely chop your head off and hang it in my house!"
"Alright, alright." Mo Yan said somewhat apologetically: "There won't be a next time, I guarantee it."
"You... are actually in cahoots with humans?" Kediliya looked at Moyan and then at Aruba, saying somewhat incredulously after making sure she wasn't mistaken. This was like a tiger and a sheep joining forces to catch a wolf that wanted to eat the sheep - it was just too unbelievable!
"In fact, I am still the lord of a city." Said the Minotaur called Mo Yan: "This time I came here, is to want to establish a port in the vicinity, so as to facilitate trade with Carthage. However, you understand, you sea monsters are a big problem."
"I must be dreaming." The crushing defeat and the utterly unreasonable reality in front of her had left Kedillia dazed. And so she really fainted, and in the haze, she heard some words.
"Ugh... I actually passed out..."
"It's been a while since she left the water, let me take her back to the seaside."
"I'm going to get the collar!"
