James
“Captain!” Lance, a sailor with wild black hair and tattooed arms shouted from the bow of the ship. “It’s the mermaids again!”
James sighed and stood from his desk, the mermaids were a troublesome bunch, they loved to play tricks on his crew’s minds, and excluding his brother was the source of most of his headaches.
Stomping out of his cabin James grabbed a grenade from a box placed by his door. “Every single day,” He grumbled and pulled the pin.”Begone!!” He yelled and hurled it over the side, “Blasted mermaids.”

A moment later a muffled boom shook the ship and sent water spraying everywhere. Lance wiped the water from his face and grinned. “Think you got one Captain?” he asked and peered over the edge.
“Doubt it,” He grunted, “They swim fast, and we do this every day.” James sighed and took his hat from Smee who joined them by the rail.
James scanned the sky and looked for any misplaced shadows, large birds, or odd lights - signs of his brother.
As was usual for Neverland, the sky was bright blue and filled with soft fluffy clouds. “Keep an eye on the sky, Lance.”
Leaving the sailor to his work James and Smee made their way to the helm. “What’s the plan for today, Captain?” The man cheerfully asked once the cabin door swung shut.
James glanced over and for a moment the terrified eyes of a younger version of his friend overlapped the present. Clearing his throat James sat behind his desk and tapped at his hook in thought.
