Kaito understands women better than I do. I turn from scolding them to go back to the classroom, when I remember, it’s raining. A little, enough that they're slightly damp, and clothes aren’t decent enough. Or at least in my opinion. In my opinion, if people were more modest, we wouldn’t have so many orphans, or abandoned kids.
Noticing them start to shiver, I knock on the side of the ambulance to catch Leon’s attention and ask for towels. When I hand them the towels, I assume Josh has returned to class, because I don’t see him around.
I start to walk inside as the girls follow me. I hope this is a one time event, I’d like to not have to call help again, it brings too much attention to me.
Likewise, I climb up the stairs and, out of habit, reach up to take a puff of a cigarette that’s not there.
“Why are you acting like you have a lollipop in your mouth?” Sute leans forward curiously, with a strange look in her eyes as she tucks her now dry hair back.
“Habit.” I reply shortly. It seems Sute doesn’t understand the ‘We aren’t friends.’
When I step forward and put one foot on the third floor, I instantly feel something wrong, something I didn’t feel up here earlier. Knowing the nature of the feeling, I ignore it for now and head to the classroom.
When I open the door, I receive looks like I was raised from the dead, which is reasonable, because knowing how teachers act like dumbasses, they probably didn’t tell the class I was fine.
I cross to my seat and both of them return to theirs and we try to not bother the peace anymore then we have. Or at least as much a handsome distracting guy can.
I lean forward and place my cheek on my palm as I stare at the board wondering what subject it is.
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
It doesn't take me long, because they start writing English on the board.
I smile, english is my easiest subject, I got fluent when I was on the street and met an American hobo.
We were good friends for a while till he got shanked while sleeping. Well, I didn't mind much, all he did is yap. I think he ended up committing some crimes on a yakuza's lady, that's how I met Saturo. If you are a fan of anime, no, he is not white haired, but he does have blue eyes.
He was also around nine, which was kinda crazy, but I guess the yakuzas got a use for everybody. I think he was a debt collector, something about a kid disarming people before stabbing him.
My mind drifts as I sit through the class. I think about the ominous aura I felt earlier, and wonder if a fighter has transferred to the school.
Thinking about the ominous aura, my back shoots straight, and I remember the girl from earlier.
I don't know her, but her hair was crazy, like a leaf blower ran through it.
I have no clue why, but I have this nagging feeling that I want to know her.
Time passes as the teacher drones on and I keep stuck in my mind, until I take a deep breath and everything fades.
Opening my mental eyes, I see a projection of what my eyes see physically.
I turn my back to the image and walk away, the water trickling around my bare feet.
Nearby, a staircase opens downward as the water flows down like a whirlpool as it drains.
I know telepaths aren't real, but it's a great way to recede away from the pain of life.
I step down onto the damp stone staircase and descend into the one place I've never figured out.
My mind.
I wander the castle halls for a while, approximately five minutes outside of my mind, looking for a certain room.
I pass a room with a massive glowing orb hooked up to wires, dangling from the ceiling as it pulses and whirrs, like a clock meets a heart.
Of course when I try to find that room, I find the center of my labyrinth that I've searched for years, but that girl is all in my mind more than solving it.
I walk until the hallway begins to fade, and the floor leaves my feet and I plummet.
I suddenly slow, and my feet touch down on nothing observable.
In front of me stands the girl from earlier.
