Chapter Ten: Meeting Man of Former Importance

As Mao sat in class, she heard the girls whisper about the new student. Sitting her bag down, a chair scooted over to her desk. "Hey, who's the hot guy you were with, Mao?" "Oh, he's a new friend of mine, Makio. I met him two days ago." Mao answered. "Really? And you're not gonna tell your best friend about him? Selfish." Makio huffed, "Don't be that way, Makio." Mao patted Makio's shoulder. "So, does Kosaki know about him?" Makio asked, "Does Kosaki know about who?" "Oh, hi, Yuki." Mao turned around.

"Who are you two talking about?" "Just the new guy, Kosaki." Makio turned around. "New guy? There's a new student this late in the year?" Kosaki cocked his brow. "Yeah, and he's so hot." "Mitsuri, you're drooling." "Oh, thanks, Momo." Mitsuri patted her younger twin sister's head. "I'd like to know what his workout routine is." "Shiro, do you always have to think about working out?" "Of course, Keniji. How else will I be as cool as Mao's big brother?" Shiro leaned in his chair.

"Alright, class. Today, we'll introduce your new classmate to economics. If you may, come in and introduce yourself." The professor motioned to the classroom door. Ryomen stepped inside the classroom, walking next to the professor. "Hello, my name is Ryomen Hitowari. Don't worry about helping me with work, I'll catch up and do everything you all did this year before lunch starts." Ryomen looked out the window, walking to an open seat. This is going to be so boring, all of their work should be child's play. Ryomen sat his head onto the desk.

"There's no way he's serious, right?" Makio whispered, "I don't know." Mao whispered back. "Here's all of the previous work." The professor set a large stack of paper on Ryomen's desk. "Thank you, can I get a pen, ms...?" "My name is Juri Goto. I'll go get one for you." Juri went to her desk. Okay, let's see what the first paper has in store. Ryomen took a paper from the stack. Oh...I've done this exact thing at nine easily. Ugh, there won't even be a hidden challenge, will there? Ryomen groaned. "Here you go, Ryomen." Juri handed Ryomen the pen.

Midway through class, everyone noticed that Ryomen was taking a nap. "Ahem, Ryomen. No sleeping during class." Juri called out, "I'm already done with my work and I'm bored." Ryomen poked his crimson-platinum eyes out from his arms. "Then...I guess you can take a nap then." Juri turned back to the board, "Thank you, ms. Goto." Ryomen went back to his nap. How did he manage to do that without help so fast? Momo looked back at Ryomen.

During the switch from the economics class to the physics class. While the class went on with the theoretical physics material, Ryomen spent his time working out the kinks and equations for an authentic relativistic field on a scrap of paper. "Psst, what are you writing?" Keniji whispered, "Everything that I should need to create a small relativistic field. My research says that it is the first step to making the concept of infinity into a real thing, instead of just a quantum dream." Ryomen chewed on his pen slightly. How is he able to just...make equations this complex to start to understand for a futuristic idea? Kenijitried to read the paper. "Can I get a new paper? I messed up my equation." Ryomen passed the scrap paper to Keniji.

As the physics class ended and the gym class started. Ryomen sat off to the side while everyone got ready for the day's basketball game. "Hey, the teacher wanted to know why you're not getting ready to play?" Shiro walked over to Ryomen with Mitsuri, "Just don't like the sport." Ryomen leaned back against the bleachers. "You have to at least play one game, come on. Recently, the boys have been losing to us because of their stamina." Mitsuri tugged Ryomen's arm. "Fine, I'll play just one game." Ryomen got up, stretching. "Since we have such a lead on you boys in victories. You guys can start with the ball." Makio passed the ball to Shiro.

"So, the faster this game goes, the faster I get to stop playing?" Ryomen took the ball from Shiro. "Pfft, do you think that you can-" As the gym teacher began the game, Ryomen side-stepped Makio, scoring a three-pointer. "Check-up, pass the ball back." Ryomen held his hands out, "Uhh...good play? But luck doesn't strike twice in a row, that's just not probable." Yuki passed the ball back to Ryomen. Once Ryomen got the ball, he began to dominate the girls' team, leaving his own team on the sidelines. "There, did I play enough now? Let me know when combat sports are involved." Ryomen walked back over to the bleachers. I was prepared to actually do something to help us win against the girls today...we didn't even get to do anything. Kosaki stared at Ryomen.

As lunch came around, Mao went up to the school's roof, making her way to her usual spot to eat. "I can't believe what the new guy was able to do." Momo picked at her food. "What did Ryomen do?" Mao sat on the bench with the group. Everyone slowly looked at Mao. Makio stood up, walking towards Mao and grabbing her shoulders. "What's with that freak of nature? How is he good at everything, huh!?" Makio shook Mao. "What do you mean?" Mao opened her eyes slightly, getting dizzy. "Can you decipher this?" Keniji gave Mao the scrap paper from the physics class.

While looking over the paper, the group heard footsteps approaching them. "Hey, Mao. It was pretty tough to find you. Oh, that's my work." Ryomen sat down. "Yep, the one being there makes the equation flawed, which ruins the whole sequence." Ryomen pointed at the paper, shaking his head. "And what's the importance of the equation?" Mitsuri asked, "Oh, just to set up the diameter for a small container. Otherwise, blip. Everyone is gone...or at least my progression is." Ryomen answered. "How are you so good at basketball? You have to tell me." Shiro got in Ryomen's face, "You line up the shots and have good cardio. Whoever you are." Ryomen pushed Shiro out of his face.

"Oh yeah, I got the rules for the game all written down. From summons to slight card explanations." Ryomen handed Mao a couple of papers. "Card game?" Kosaki looked at the papers, "Yeah, it's just something to go along with...what the hell is Naoya Zenin doing here!?" Ryomen pointed at Kosaki. "That's Kosaki, Ryomen," Mao said. Wait, this guy is my grandpa? Then one of these girls is Yuki Amanai, but which one? Ryomen looked between the women. "Oh, let me introduce you to everyone. This is Makio Kobayashi, my best friend. These two are Mitsuri and Momo Kugasaki, they're twins. This is Shiro Yaga. This is Keniji Kenji. And this is Yuki Amanai." Mao said.

Eh? Yuki is the flat one? Blonde hair, green eyes...why would grandpa cheat on grandma with her? Hold on, Makio Kobayashi is grandma's best friend? My landlord's grandma is my grandma's best friend. Ryomen looked between everyone.
