Chapter 10 – Confidence and Understanding

After some thoughts on the matter of testing, Marcus went to the bcksmith and bought a steel dagger for five drakes.

It was for testing purposes, and a dagger would always be useful.

After taking the dagger, he went back to his room, for which he paid again five more drachmas.

His total coins were about ninety-six septims and five drakes, which was okay for him for the time being.

"Now, the testing," he said to himself and then closed his eyes for a moment; a cleansing and powerful energy manifested in his hands, and then he cast the Oakflesh spell for the first time.

"Wisp!" with a sound of magical energy, his body was covered in bluish energy.

"I can feel the defensive power even without testing...."

"But I need to test it out."

Marcus then brandished the steel dagger he bought and made a slicing motion to his hand, and then the dagger backed off.

  "Good."

He then sliced again, this time putting more power to it; this time he felt something, but still there was no wound.

"I do not want to test the stabbing, but I have to," he said to himself and then pced his hand on the table.

"Here goes nothing." With force, he stabbed his hands.

"Irgh," with some pain, a small blood drawing on his hands, but it was still okay.

Despite putting a huge amount of power that would most likely be enough to pierce and penetrate the hand all the way through, he was just able to cause a small amount of blood from his hands.

That was an acceptable and great result.

"This means that as long as Oakflesh is active, I am well-protected against not-so-powerful attacks such as ordinary thieves and their daggers as well as their bows..."

"I would say that mud crabs and wolves too would not harm me much..."

"I spent about one third of my magicka after I used Oakflesh, and I can feel it would st about one day without any continuous magicka to feed it."

  "God..."

"The mages are really overpowered in terms of lore and when the game becomes a reality."

He stopped testing and then closed his eyes for a second and nodded.

"In one to two minutes, I should regenerate the magicka that I spent on casting Oakflesh..."

"This must be because I spent some points on Alteration; it cut the cost of the spell and increased its duration..."

"I guess it was a good decision. As long as I live, I should have no problem keeping improving my power."

He looked at his hand that was still bloody a little bit, and then with his left hand, he focused on an already existing "Healing" spell and then started casting it.

  "One second.

  "Two seconds."

The wound was fully healed in just two seconds, and he spent ten magicka points for it.

"Yeah, restoration spells still cost a lot, about the same as Fmes, but that can be cut down with more perk points added to it as I level up."

The wound was not much at the start, so it did not take too much time to heal it.

With using the primary "Healing" spell, he believed he could heal a grave injury if he spent all of his magicka to keep on healing.

Of course, he would need Magicka and then still be awake to cast the spell in the first pce.

"I believe I should make myself Fortify Health and Fortify Magicka potions and keep using them."

"With my alchemy, their duration should be great..."

"It is not hard to make them."

"With potions, I can increase my magicka up to 200 and my health up to 140 to 150, which I am not sure if it would work, as when I focus on 'Health,' there is not much of a numeric value."

"I still believe it would increase my defensive capabilities and ability to take more damage without dying."

"As long as I don't die instantly to some sort of a trap or a direct hit from a powerful mage or an assassin, I should be safe."

With new testing and pns made, Marcus felt safer and more confident.

"Now that I have dealt with most of the things."

"I should focus on the next pn."

"I need to go to Winterhold to keep studying and spend some time in the wilderness to have some experience."

"Before, I should at least have one or two perk points in Destruction and three to four more levels in total."

"An adept-level alteration spell, Stoneflesh, and an adept-level destruction spell, Lightning Bolt or Firebolt, would be pretty useful."

"I want to test them out to see if I can use the spells in this world with my own will and change it according to my own will."

"I wonder how much freedom I have on those types of things."

Marcus thought about many things about his future and his pns.

Now that he was in testing and understanding more, he believed that he would need more books and knowledge in this world to keep on improving.

He believed that with more creative ways to gain power, he discover all the areas he wants to see and experience and also keep his life safe from all the evil and powerful beings that roams the world of Elder Scrolls.
