Chapter 41: Founding of the Nation
Due to financial constraints, the seven handwritten books collected by the unfortunate Lord Nelson were all short pieces of one or two thousand words.
Of the seven volumes, four are about knights, one is a narrative poem describing the luxurious life of nobility, and the last two are national annals of the Kingdom of Cadon.
Without hesitation, Luo Wei's eyes fell on the last two handwritten copies of the Kadon National Founding Chronicle.
Through this sudden attack, Luo Wei finally had a basic understanding of this strange world, or at least the Kingdom of Kadon where he lived.
The Kingdom of Gadon was established in the 27th year after the founding of the Samaria Empire, which is the year 2349 of the Gray Calendar.
That year, the former ruler of Gadon, Nikolai, was granted a fief in the remote and desolate region of Imtdon-Verkhoyansk.
Nicholas led his family members, attendants and vassals, who had just built a wooden fortress on the barren plain of Immdon and planted crops, when the uncivilized mountain king and the earth spirit king commanded a joint army to attack.
To protect his people, Prince Nikola led the army in a proactive attack and was always at the forefront of the battle, but he lost battle after battle.
At the most critical moment when only seven knights were left beside him after a bloody battle, King Niccolò finally moved the national war god Quirino, and with the blessing of the gods, he and the seven knights instantly turned the tide of the battle, killing the king of the mountain barbarians and the earth spirit king in one fell swoop.
Under the guidance of Quirós, the war god who protected the country, the previous ruler and seven knights expanded their territory step by step. They transformed the originally barren and desolate Immdon Plain into a land of prosperity with castles standing everywhere. Even in the treacherous Feruja mountain range, they established the city of Kandia in the mountains and appointed Bridgeiman, one of the Seven Holy Knights who was most skilled in defense, as the hereditary Count of Kandia.
However, the first Earl of Kandia, Bridgeman, returned to the divine country of Quelthos with 5,000 vassals, over 300 knights, 13 spellcasters and 7 priests after a battle against the mountain barbarians. Their bodies were buried forever in the endless mountains of Feruja according to Bridgeman's will.
Then Sir Nicholas led a large army and avenged the Earl of Bridgeman.
In the records of the last great battle in which Gondor's birth is sung, Rovin found mention of the road he had trodden before, the stone-paved highway that linked Gondor and Corvia, built by the very Bridgerman Earl who fell in the Mountains.
But what puzzled Rovellio was that this last major campaign, which had cost the Kingdom of Galdon so dearly in lives and men, lacked a clear description of who the enemy were, merely referring to it as a battle against the Hill Barbarians...
Of course, Luo Wei didn't think too much about it, after all, this matter had nothing to do with him, so why bother to worry about it?
As the day was already nearing noon, Luo Wei dragged Kolenwi, the slave trader, to meet that poor follower who had escaped from the lair of the defeated Blood Blade thieves, but fell into the wolf's den of Kolenwi.
Rove found that the poor attendant had a swollen face and a head as big as a pig's, and it was clear at a glance that he had been subjected to very low-level torture - really low-level, as Rove knew at least nine ways to make this poor attendant spit out the information he wanted without any external injuries.
"What's your name?"
Luo Wei pulled over a chair and sat down opposite the battered and bruised Qian Kun.
"Answer the question quickly! The one sitting in front of you is the respected and noble Mr. Luo Wei, if you dare to tell a half-truth, believe it or not, he will turn you into an ugly zombie!"
The slave trader followed and asked with a smile, "How does it look like a loyal and evil slave who is devoted to the tiger?"
"I, I am Quincy Onderhill, esteemed and noble wizard sir! Please, please don't turn me into a zombie, I'll tell you anything! I dare not speak any lies!"
That poor wretch, who had already suffered greatly, was apparently acquainted with the departed spirit of Rovi, and at the mere mention of his name, he trembled violently and fell to the ground, crying out in a voice of terror.
Under Rove's direction, two of Coleridge's guards dragged the limp Quincy-Undhill up from the floor and re-seated him in the chair directly opposite Rove.
"Don't be afraid, Quincy. As long as you answer my questions honestly, I absolutely won't turn you into a zombie." Roviel flashed a reassuring smile, but upon seeing that the smile only made the poor attendant tremble even more violently, Roviel could only helplessly retract her smile and ask directly: "First question, Quincy, do you still remember the location of those Defeated Blood Blade bandits' hideout?"
"Remember! I've been particularly sensitive to terrain since I was a child, and as long as I've walked through a place once, I'll never forget it. The lair of the Bloodthirsty Blade thieves' gang is just..."
……
After spending almost an hour, by repeatedly asking to confirm that the poor attendant Quincy-And Hill was not lying, Rove walked out of the temporary interrogation room.
In Luo Wei's hand was a map that did not conform to the drawing rules of this alien world, and only he could understand it. The map marked the Shattered Stone Road, marked more than a dozen villages scattered along the road, including Nefere, marked the only town in the mountainous area of over 200 miles, Aslat, and most importantly, the lair of the Defeated Blood Blade bandits, which was actually less than half a day's straight-line distance from Aslat.
Of course, the straight-line distance on the map is never equal to the actual distance, and this situation is particularly prominent in mountainous areas.
Quincy was able to run back to Aslat in one night, on the one hand because of his super strong sensitivity to terrain, and on the other hand because fear had played a super role.
When humans face the threat of death, they will burst out with unimaginable potential. For example, under the same physical conditions, an ordinary runner can't outrun a runner who is being chased by a big wolf.
"Mr. Colenwe, I'm afraid I won't be able to follow your caravan and head to Kandia with you."
After putting away the map, Luo Wei said to the slave trader.
"It doesn't matter, but Mr. Luo Wei, you're alone..."
The slave trader nodded, and in fact he had already vaguely guessed at this possibility when Rove asked Quincy-Andhill.
"I'm worried, I am a ghost witch after all."
Rovi smiled, according to the intelligence he had obtained from Quincy-Undershill, there were no more formidable characters in the lair of the Blood Blade, and Rovi had also obtained some extremely favorable information for himself.
In a mountain valley about a day's walk from the lair of the Bloodied Blade, it was where the Bloodied Blade annihilated Lord Nelson's army two years ago. The bodies of the fallen, including those of the two Bronze Knights, were buried in that valley.
