"Hey, had to get a new phone, but it's Hiroshi. A lot has happened in really short time, and things have... gotten better and worse in more ways than I could describe. However, I will be getting a whole month of vacation for July, and due to some support and consideration from co-workers and people I work with, we are planning on coming for a visit. Well, at least I will be visiting you, it has been too long time since we have seen each other. Plans will get more in detail later on, but I am just informing you early. Keep healthy big sis!"
"Jeez, and I thought I had plenty to deal with already." Muttered Haruka, wearing light and preparing a breakfast. "Just hope he doesn't bring any more misfortune to us with this plan." She contemplated, as she prepared to head out for another day of hard work.
"AGH! I GET IT YOU WANT TO COME, BUT YOU CAN'T!" Hiroshi spoke in distress, as Nata was nearly climbing on him, as they are walking along the streets of Elmspring, with Olivia and Julia keeping close.
"IT'S JUST BABY SITTING! I COULD HELP!" Nata complained even harder, having been trying since the morning to convince him to let her join on babysitting for Azhar.
Julia took firm grip under Nata's armpits, and yanked her quickly away from Hiroshi. "He already has kids to watch over, he doesn't need an another."
"I AM NOT A KID!" Nata shouted, clearly getting more angry by the second, but Julia was clearly too strong of an opponent to drop her.
"Jeez, what's with her." Hiroshi muttered in whisper, which thankfully Nata wasn't in focus to listen to, as Olivia calmly got next to him.
"Might be something with new moon... you know. 'in season'." Olivia theorized, which Hiroshi hoped was wrong.
"Well, hopefully you don't mind looking after her and Julia for couple hours." He said in apologetic tone, as she calmly shook her head.
"It's fine, after the previous trouble, they seem to get more along, even if... you know." Olivia muttered, as their eyes wandered to see Nata and Julia wrestling each other, Nata for escape and Julia for her to calm down good of everyone there.
"NATA! Bad girl!" Hiroshi shouted, in attempts to speak to her dog-senses, which thankfully worked, as upon hearing his words, Nata slowly calmed down, ears and tail low, saddened from getting called bad.
"Sorry." She muttered, feeling foolish, as Julia took a good breath before letting go of her. "You better be." muttered under her breath in annoyance, as she straightened her clothes.
As things calmed down for a moment, Olivia was left to anxiously walk alongside, clearly working herself too much. "Gosh, What kind of test will it be?"
"I'd presume something simple. But no need to stress, I promise you will do well." Hiroshi said with a motivational thumbs up, but it didn't ease her too much, especially since the uncertainty left so much for her to consider... and what success even brought her.
"Hello, hello, hello." Happily exclaimed a short were-mouse, as he took in the group with Olivia, upon arriving at the station.
"If it isn't the ever popular Hero." He noted as he went to shake his hand. "Actually, it's Hiroshi. Hiro is just a nickname."
"Doesn't matter when spoken, but does in our test... well... not really, but... yeah, joke didn't land." He muttered with light awkwardness, as his attention went to the moth.
"Anyways, This will take four hours at max. Rest of you are free to stick around the station, but Olivia here will be all alone on this one." He declared, which rest of the group understood, while Olivia was left to sweat anxiously.
"H-how hard will this be?" She asked, trying to calm her racing mind, as he happily spoke up. "Simple, I will give you a book to read, and after three hour max, I will task you to write a review on it. It won't be long, about five thousand words. tenth-as-long as a light novel."
"Well, we wish you good luck, Olivia." Hiroshi noted with a warm smile, "You can do it, I know you will." Exclaimed Nata with cheer, "Just don't stress too much. Either way, Hiroshi will treat you most likely to something." Julia noted with a smug smile, as Hiroshi was left lightly crumpled on being predicted upon.
"Thanks." Olivia muttered, giving a faint smile, before going onwards with the test.
With Olivia off to do the test, rest of the crew was left to question what to do now, and as they were about to head out, Hiroshi got flashbanged by a bright light, alongside Nata and Julia, making the trio react disgruntled.
As Hiroshi asked "What was that?" his eyes came to focus and saw the angry Julia holding up an catgirl by their shirt collar. "Better explain yourself or you will be seeing black!"
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
"Woah, calm down." Hiroshi said, not wanting more trouble than they already got, as the catgirl whined with apologies, letting her tail flail hopelessly. "Sorry, sorry. I forgot to take off flash."
Julia didn't get much cheerful to hear the eye damage was out of her stupid action, but accepted it and let her go, letting the catgirl fall down gracefully in perfect balance.
"I am extremely sorry for the trouble. None of the reporters have gotten proper picture of you after last week's events, so I got little too excited and forgot."
Nata gave a light growl of annoyance still as she rubbed her eyes just to make sure, as Hiroshi was surprised to hear the words. "Wait, so you are an journalist?"
The catgirl happily tipped her cap, revealing the tabby coloring with round ears, while keeping firm grip on her camera that was wrapped around her neck, and she had plenty of writing material hiding by her side in the bag, alongside putting her hand out for a shake. "Missis Mittens, of Meowning News paper and blog. Nice to make your acquaintance."
"Right." Hiroshi noted, as he shook her hand, as she offered it to the other duo. "Weird name." Julia commented, as she was next to shake, before Nata disgustingly did so, who rather kept growling than speaking to the new troublemaker.
"That's just my pen name. Keeps the legals off my tail most of the time." She said with a smirk, as she quickly checked the picture she caught. "But enough about me, let's talk about who do we have here. By reports, characters by name of Hero Hiroshi, ice-cold Nata and mafia betrayer Julia." she spoke, almost like she was taking it like meeting fictional characters, than actual people.
"What crude nicknames." Nata muttered, clearly not happy to hear what she has been called. "Oh, don't blame me, that is what some of us reporters have come call you three... tho there were talks of a moth, but doesn't seem to be with you."
"That's not for you to care about. Why are you disturbing us anyways?" Julia asked, clearly wanting the interaction to be over with.
"I told you already, you three have been big news in the city last week, and the fact Hamiltons with Sophia and Katariina has been silent of the matter, and declined any forms of interview, getting a chance with you not only is hyped around, but there is plenty of cash for such a target."
"Thanks for caring, but I doubt we have much to say." Hiroshi spoke up, taking things calm and seeming to appreciate the attention, which took Nata slightly off from her grumbling feelings towards confusion as it was different from him before.
"Oh, come one. You can't say that, when I haven't had a chance to ask anything." Mittens muttered, slightly displeased by his refusal.
"Listen, I have already have plenty of dealings as a foster and a tamer. So personally, I feel someone like Edith is hundred times more qualified to speak out about such stuff, after all her job is as a spokesperson. And even if you got to know us more personally, it wouldn't mean much in whole, even if you journalists think it would be something notable, but you should know, mystery sells more than whole truth." Hiroshi explained, hoping to both push Edith to be more qualified, and try to convince her the secrecy would be better off, when really he just wants to avoid the spotlight once again, which seemed to work for now, as Mittens considered his words.
"Well... when you but it that way, that does make sense... But can I at least get a proper picture of you, without the flash this time." She asked, and as Hiroshi checked if the two didn't mind, "Sure."
So, taking a short moment for picture, Mittens thanked them for the time, before running off to continue her work.
"You sure know how to avoid questions." Julia commented, knowing full well he was making up what he spoke.
"Best way out of trouble is to avoid it." He muttered in answer, as checking both of the girls were fine, decided they should go spend some time at the park to catch some breath, and Hiroshi to continue training Nata's concentration away from her instincts.
But the calm was partly broken upon arrival, as Julia pushed Hiroshi to work out, with some jog and stretching, which Nata didn't mind too much as she joined in.
As all had gotten warmed up and sweaty, they took a calm break on some benches, with some nearby grill's food.
"So, Japan huh?" Julia decided to speak up, wanting to dissect more into who Hiroshi was. "Pretty long way to move."
"Yeah, but that wasn't my plan." Hiroshi admitted without trouble. "My big sis has supported me through everything, and moving here was one of her plans, even if I had couple complaints myself."
"Yet you went with it. What, got no spine?" Julia noted with a smirk, happily trying to get under his skin.
"Clearly he has spine." Nata was quick to jump into defense, as Hiroshi just gave a smile and pat on her head. "Well, situation was really complicated back then. No doubts will still be when I return."
"Complicated in what way?" Julia decided to try dig into him, but it was clear there was slight discomfort with Hiroshi, as his shoulders got firm, and smile vanished. "It... would take too long to explain."
Julia's smirk disappeared with him shutting out of the information. "Fine, but if you cause trouble to me with your spinelessness, I promise you, it will leave a mark on your face."
"Cool it. I promise it won't cause trouble to you. It's a very personal case."
"I hope you are right." Julia muttered, before they were able to return enjoying their food.
Exhausted Olivia stared down the piece of paper in front of her, full of words that both eased her, but also made her question her very ability to move her hand, before getting jolted into attention by knock on the door. "The hour is up. I hope the review is ready."
"Y-yes, it is... I think." Olivia muttered through worried tremor, as the short mouse took the paper, and stared at it with anticipation.
Couple humms and eyeing for any major errors, he shortly concluded, "Quite good work in just a month, but I will have to give a closer look to properly grade your performance. I will inform you on monday."
Hearing that she at least passed today without trouble calmed her down for now, but the internal anxiety still burned warm with promise of if she passed or not in the future.
"You are free to go. You know who are waiting for you." He noted, which gave Olivia light pep on her step, as she happily walked out of the room, over with the great amount of pressure lifted off her, as she came face to face with rest of the group.
"Seems things went better than expected. I got your favorite just for the occasion." Hiroshi happily declared, as he handed him a store-bought plastic cup of fruit cocktail, which she more than happily opened and took a sip and some fruit cubes to munch on, which Nata and Hiroshi didn't mind, but Julia was slightly disgusted by the display of consuming so sugary food like it was a light snack.
"Alright, unless someone has objections, time to head home." Hiroshi said, seeing if the girls had any more plans, which they didn't seem to, meaning today's group activity was over, and on the way home, Hiroshi was planning and preparing for evening activity.
