Chapter Ninety-six: White Iron City
It was still early in the morning when Du Fei was suddenly shaken awake by someone. He opened his eyes to see an old beggar standing next to him, holding a tree branch and shaking it back and forth. Du Fei immediately began cursing loudly: "You old good-for-nothing, are you bored out of your mind? Why are you disturbing me so early in the morning?" The old beggar chuckled and signaled for Du Fei to be quiet, saying: "Hush, I'm just checking if you're dead or not." Du Fei's curses woke up Zong Ji Tian, who was sleeping nearby. When he saw the old beggar teasing Du Fei, he couldn't help but smile. "Stop it, you old good-for-nothing! I'll get you for this!" Du Fei shouted, but the old beggar just laughed and continued to tease him. The commotion woke up the other people in the house, including an old woman and a young girl. They walked out of the house, still half asleep, and saw Du Fei being teased by the old beggar. The girl couldn't help but laugh at Du Fei's misfortune. She picked up a tree branch and joined in on the teasing, leaving Du Fei no choice but to watch as he was tormented. "Alright, alright, let's stop playing around," the old beggar said with a chuckle. "I think this kid is about to explode from anger." The girl stopped teasing Du Fei, looking pleased with herself. "Hmph, I think this kid had a rough night last night," the old beggar said, looking at the girl. "Let's just leave him alone for now." But the girl shook her head and said: "No way, this isn't over yet." Du Fei looked like he had lost his last bit of energy and asked: "What do you want from me?" The girl smiled sweetly and said: "You offended my mistress, so today I'm going to make you understand her power. I thought about it last night, and I've come up with a way to help you train. Don't worry, I'm not trying to bully you, I'm just helping you." Du Fei looked at the girl skeptically and asked: "What kind of good idea could you possibly have? You tied me up here all night, I know you're up to no good." The girl smiled again and said: "Don't worry about it, you'll find out soon enough. All I need you to do is carry me on your back as we travel." Du Fei's eyes widened in surprise and he asked: "Carry you?" The girl nodded and said: "Yes, that's right. Uncle Frost, can you make a wooden chair for me? One that can be carried on someone's back?" A middle-aged man nearby nodded and waved his hand, causing a wooden chair to appear on the ground.
Here is the translation:
"Hehe, it's you, see? You're going to carry me on your back as punishment for being rude to me." Yu Heng looked at Du Fei with a smug expression. "No way, I won't do it," Du Fei said, turning his head away. "Hehe, your mouth is still so hard, but you don't know how long you can keep it up. Right now, your meridians are sealed by Grandma, and you can't use your internal energy. Even if I let you go, you won't be able to run away. If you don't carry me, then you'll just have to stay tied up like that, dragged behind the horse carriage as we walk. Which one do you choose?" Yu Heng said with a playful tone.
Du Fei cursed, "You're a shrew, I'll make you pay someday." Yu Heng was clearly enraged by Du Fei's insult and raised her branch to hit him again. Du Fei also refused to back down, cursing as he went. The two of them were at odds with each other, and the others present couldn't help but laugh...
Yu Heng lay on a chair, laughing loudly, especially at Du Fei's misfortune. "You're still being stubborn in front of me? You think you're so great? Now, are you going to carry me or not?" Yu Heng laughed even harder, intentionally trying to provoke Du Fei.
Du Fei was extremely displeased by Yu Heng's words, but he had no choice. He could only grit his teeth and bear it. Earlier, no matter what Yu Heng did, Du Fei refused to give in. But now, he had no other option but to reluctantly carry Yu Heng on his back.
"How much longer until we reach your home, Ah Xue?" the old beggar asked with a smile. "I estimate about two days at most," the old woman replied. "Oh, great! When we get there, you have to let me try that thirty-year-old daughter red wine of yours." The old beggar's eyes lit up.
"I know, I've been saving it just for you," the old woman said with a smile. "Old drunkard, all you think about is drinking. One day, you'll drink yourself to death, you damned fool!" Du Fei muttered under his breath.
The old beggar immediately walked over to Du Fei and pinched his face, laughing. "Ah! Ah! Old freak, let go! I won't curse anymore!" Du Fei cried out in pain.
Everyone present burst into laughter at the sight of Du Fei's misfortune.
"Excuse me, elder, where is your home?" Zong Ji Tian asked respectfully. "White Iron City," the old woman replied with a smile. "White Iron City?" Du Fei seemed to remember something and looked puzzled. "What? You know White Iron City?"
Yu Heng asked, "You recognize him?" The middle-aged man looked at Du Fei in surprise. "Do you know Mo Nan?" Du Fei asked. "Mo Nan? How do you know him?" the old woman asked, also looking surprised.
Du Fei replied casually, "I've just met him a few times." The middle-aged man scrutinized Du Fei for a moment before walking over to the old woman and whispering something in her ear. The old woman listened intently, then smiled and said, "Don't worry, we'll find out everything when we get home. Besides, what can this little kid do? Don't worry about it."
The middle-aged man bowed respectfully and said, "Yes, elder. I understand." The old woman continued, "Let's just continue on our journey for now."
Two days passed in the blink of an eye, and now Du Fei was carrying Yu Heng and a few others to a majestic city gate that exuded an aura of grandeur. The gate was over 30 meters high, while the city walls stretched out endlessly, with massive stone bricks stacked on top of each other in an orderly fashion, giving off an overwhelming visual impact. On the gate, several bold and powerful characters read "White Iron City". Du Fei's face was filled with shock as he gazed at the enormous gate, exclaiming: "My god, what a huge gate! What sturdy walls! What a majestic city!" Yu Heng chuckled, her face full of pride and satisfaction, saying to Du Fei: "Haha, you're scared, aren't you? Let me tell you, once you enter the city, there's even more amazing things that will surprise you. Now, I'm going home, so I advise you to try to curry favor with me, or else you'll be in for a world of hurt later." Du Fei sneered: "You're still just a little brat, and yet you have the nerve to say that? Don't you feel ashamed? Curry favor with you? No way!"
"You, you're in trouble again. When we get home, I'll make sure you regret it." Yu Heng said with a hint of anger. "I'm afraid of you," Du Fei replied loudly. The two started arguing again, but the old woman and others didn't bother to intervene. They had grown accustomed to these two causing trouble over the past few days.
Just then, a guard spoke up, "Ah, it's the old lady who has returned! Quickly go and report to the master that the old madam and young miss have arrived." The guard immediately showed respect upon seeing the old woman and others.
"Oh, is this city your family's?" Du Fei asked curiously. "Hmph, what do you think?" Yu Heng replied smugly. "Pfft, what's the big deal? It's just a city. I'm not impressed," Du Fei said with disdain upon seeing Yu Heng's smug expression.
Before long, several agile figures appeared in the sky and landed before the old woman and others. "Mother, you've finally returned! Your child has been waiting for you for so long!" A refined-looking man in his forties with an extraordinary aura spoke up. He looked delighted to see the old beggar woman, but she gave him a warning glance, and he immediately pretended not to recognize her.
The man was followed by three other men of similar age, all of whom were respectfully looking at the old woman and kneeling down to say in unison, "Greetings, Old Madam."
"Hehe, get up. Wan Di, Mother is right here in front of you. What are you worried about?" The old woman laughed.
"Father, don't tell me you've forgotten about me? Don't you remember your precious daughter?" Yu Heng suddenly jumped out of her chair and rushed towards the man.
"Haha, how could I forget my dear daughter? You little scamp, did you have fun on this trip?" The man smiled warmly at Yu Heng.
Du Fei suddenly noticed that two of the three men behind the refined-looking man were actually Mo Nan and Mo Xiang, whom he knew. They also noticed Du Fei's presence but didn't say anything, only smiling and nodding in greeting. Du Fei felt strange and was about to speak up when he stopped himself.
"Haha, esteemed guests please come and rest at our residence. I've ordered wine and dishes to be prepared," the man said as he gestured for everyone to follow him towards his estate. The group happily followed...
