Chapter 9: Tides of Destiny

Later that day, in his room, Sky lay quietly on his bed, staring at the ceiling as he recalled everything that had happened.

  He still couldn’t believe it.

  The things he had done…

And the things that had happened to him.

It all felt like he was living inside an anime he once watched—except this time, it was real, and he was part of it.

He couldn’t forget the overwhelming strength he witnessed from Zeto, nor the king’s immense water power. The images replayed vividly in his mind, making his heart race with excitement.

  Sky smiled faintly.

The thought of learning more… of being able to do those things himself one day… filled him with awe and anticipation.

A few moments later, a knock echoed through the room, followed by Zeto’s familiar voice calling out to him. They were being summoned by the king for dinner.

  Sky quickly sat up.

“Oh, hey Mr. Zeto! Alright! I’m coming!”

Sky and Zeto arrived to find the king and his family already waiting for them. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, yet Sky couldn’t help but feel a little nervous as he took his seat.

When the servants brought in the meal, Sky’s eyes widened in amazement at the sight of the food laid before him. The aroma alone made his stomach tighten with hunger—

  —and then it growled loudly.

  Sky froze.

Embarrassment rushed to his face, turning his cheeks bright red. The king and Zeto heard it clearly and burst into laughter, their voices filling the room with warmth rather than mockery.

“Ha ha ha! It seems you used too much of your power today, young man!” King Maelyo said cheerfully. “Alright then, let’s begin. Both of you—young man, Zeto—enjoy your meal.”

While they were eating, the king happily told his family about everything that had happened during Sky’s first day of training.

“You know, my dear, this boy impressed me,” the king said proudly. “I never imagined he could awaken his powers on the very first day.

Most people took weeks to float on that platform—he managed it in mere moments! Ha ha ha!”

Queen Hanaya smiled warmly at Sky, her expression gentle and kind.

“How impressive indeed. You really are something, Sky.”

“Thank you, Your Majesty,” Sky replied politely, feeling both shy and grateful.

“You know what else?” the king continued, clearly enjoying the story. “Before we even started, the fishes were already following him. That means he really is blessed by the Water Element! And that’s it—his power awakened today, this early! Unbelievable. I actually expected it would take a day or two, but it seems our hero from another world is truly something else.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing what else you can do, young man,” the king added.

Sky lowered his gaze slightly, feeling the weight of the praise.

“Thank you very much, Your Highness… but I think I’m still far from being the hero the empire needs. I still have many things I need to learn. So please continue to teach me. I’ll do my best to learn everything so I can truly help the empire. I don’t want to break the people’s trust in me.”

The princess listened quietly, clearly amazed. She didn’t expect someone his age to speak with such sincerity.

“Ha ha! You really know what you’re saying, young man,” the king replied. “Don’t worry, Zeto and I will definitely help you become that person. Oh, and by the way, I apologize for what I did to you earlier. That was simply the fastest way to awaken your power. And of course, I was there—I would never let anything happen to you! Ha ha!”

“Still, I’m glad it worked!” he added with a laugh.

Queen Hanaya tilted her head slightly, curiosity in her eyes.

“Why? What exactly did you do to our young hero, my dear?”

“Ha ha! Well, the truth is—I pushed him into the water while wearing shackles to awaken his power.”

“What!? Oh my… I’m so sorry, Sky,” the queen said, genuine concern in her voice. “I’m relieved nothing happened to you.”

“N-no, Your Majesty, I’m okay,” Sky said quickly, waving his hands slightly. “Thank you for your concern… I know King Maelyo and Mr. Zeto wouldn’t let anything bad happen to me.”

The king suddenly laughed again, as if struck by a playful idea.

“Well then, because of that, young man, please accept my daughter as your wife. I can’t think of anything else to make up for what I did earlier! Ha ha ha!”

Sky, who was in the middle of eating, choked immediately.

Princess Hanna’s eyes widened in shock.

  “Whaaat!? Father!!?”

“Ahh, I like your idea, my dear,” Queen Hanaya said with a smile.

  “M-Mother!? You too!?”

Hanna’s face turned deep red as she fidgeted in embarrassment.

“Also… isn’t it still too early to talk about that?? I’m still two years away from turning thirteen!”

“Well,” the queen replied calmly, “I was ten when I agreed to marry your father. We even waited three years.”

“Ha ha ha! That’s correct,” the king said proudly. “It still feels like yesterday when I first met your mother. Not a single day passed without her in my thoughts. I patiently waited until the day I could marry her and show her how much I loved her. Your mother captured my heart at first sight. Ha ha ha!”

Queen Hanaya blushed softly, while Princess Hanna grew even redder, completely overwhelmed by the conversation.

“Now, if I remember correctly… our young hero is thirteen years old, right, Zeto?” the king asked.

  “Yes, Your Majesty.”

“Ha ha! Then you’ll be fifteen when you marry. Alright, it’s settled. Two years from now, the two of you will marry. And I believe you are the perfect person to be my daughter’s husband.”

  Sky panicked, his heart pounding.

“W-wait! Your Majesty, I’m sorry but… marriage isn’t something I’m thinking about right now. And I don’t even know the princess yet—she doesn’t know me either. I don’t want to marry someone who might not even like me. And… in our world, eighteen is the right age to marry.”

“Ha ha! That’s not a problem!” the king said cheerfully. “If that’s what you prefer, then we’ll do it when you are ready. Ha ha!”

  He then turned to Hanna.

“Hanna, my dear… don’t you think our young hero fits your type?”

  “F-Father!?” she stammered, flustered.

  “W-well… u-uhm… in my honest opinion… I-I think… he’s… cute.”

“That’s my daughter,” Queen Hanaya said proudly with a smile.

“Well then, I think that settles it, my dear.”

  “Ha ha. Indeed!”

Sky glanced at the princess, and their eyes met for a brief moment.

Both immediately looked away, faces burning with embarrassment.

Is this what they call an arranged marriage? Sky thought, completely overwhelmed.

I only wanted to see magic and go on adventures…

He suddenly remembered his father’s words from his old world:

“Son, your mother and I are expecting a lot of grandchildren from you someday.”

  Sky shook his head violently.

“Nooo… this is too early to think about!”

Zeto watched him with an amused smile, scratching his head.

“Don’t worry, Sky… I’ll be there at your wedding. Hehe.”

Everyone laughed, and the dinner continued in a joyful atmosphere.

Sky’s day ended with so many unexpected events—awakening his power, witnessing incredible strength, meeting the royal family, and something he never imagined:

He had suddenly gained a fiancée.

As he lay in bed that night, staring at the darkness, he let out a long breath.

His first day in Alonaya Kingdom had finally come to an end.

And what a day it had been.
