Glad you found my review useful. :)

I think you're definitely right that Little has build up a coherent, interesting world. A couple of elements keep showing up: Automated Interface, the Store, and, of course, Phillip Emmons. Of course, if Little is building up a coherent world, it's unclear to me how PE fits into it all... unless PE is like Stephen King's Randall Flag. Hmmm...

I love Bentley Little's work so much that it's hard to criticize anything I read by him.
He defines modern horror fiction as far as I'm concerned.
That being said, I thinks it's great to have you reading and informing people about this book from a fresh perspective.
In my opinion, 'The Academy' is an enthralling delve into the world that Little has created throughout his career as a writer.
I think it was meant to be a quick read (it was for me!) that would leave a lasting impression on the reader.
Like you said, the endings of his books are usually some nasty beast, or an ancient force of some kind, but that's a Bentley book!
There seems to be an underlying evil in the communities that are the settings of Little's books. Every book seems to make the connection clearer each time they are released.
I look forward (as always) to his next masterpiece!
Thanks again for the review!

It was actually a moderated chat event hosted by some horror website. Back in 2002 I think it was; maybe 2001. I don't recall for sure. I did get to have some one on one chat time with him, though.

But yes, to my knowledge, Little does not go on the Internet much at all. Every email address I have found that claims to be his has, of course, turned out to be a fake.

Kind of annoying that your comment was left anonymously. It indicates you were more interested in just a drive-by sniping rather than a genuine observation. Ah, well.

Interesting how you once chatted with Bentley Little once online - given he's never on the Internet.
